Enjoy hassle-free travel throughout Niagara County with free bus rides from Connect Niagara, starting July 1st.
Connect Niagara, operated by the Niagara County Department of Public Works (DPW), is offering free bus rides for the entire week of July 1st. This initiative aims to showcase the convenience and extensive reach of the bus service, which connects riders to various routes within Niagara County, NFTA buses, and tourism shuttles. However, the service will not be operational on the 4th of July holiday.
“We want our residents to see how convenient this service is to get anywhere in our region, especially with our free transfers to other Connect Niagara routes, NFTA buses, and tourism shuttles,” said Garret Meal, Commissioner of DPW. “So we are waiving bus fares next week to encourage people to give it a try.”
Connect Niagara, formerly known as Rural Transportation, runs five different routes across the county. Riders can board the bus at designated stops, call ahead for a pickup, or flag down a bus to hop on. The service even accommodates deviations up to three-quarters of a mile for those who schedule ahead. Normally, fares are $2.00 on route and $4.00 off route. Meal encourages regular users to review the schedule due to recent adjustments aimed at better serving the ridership. He also invites new riders to experience the extensive service, calling it “a hidden gem in our transportation system.”
