A routine search warrant in Jamestown led to the discovery of a stolen firearm and a significant quantity of illegal drugs.

On June 25, 2024, at approximately 11:15 a.m., members of the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force and Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force, with assistance from the Jamestown Police Department SWAT Team, executed a search warrant at 613 Newland Avenue Lower Apartment in Jamestown, New York. The operation led to the arrests of 47-year-old Richard E. Pearson Jr. and 34-year-old Kayla M. Slagle.

Upon securing the residence, detectives conducted a thorough search and discovered a Smith and Wesson M&P Shield reported stolen by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office. Additionally, they found 41.8 grams of powder cocaine, 20.8 grams of crack cocaine, 3.6 grams of methamphetamine, 1.1 grams of fentanyl, two Alprazolam pills, 25 suboxone strips, $200 in cash, a digital scale, baking soda, and packaging materials.

Pearson and Slagle were taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. Pearson, a two-time convicted felon, and Slagle face multiple charges: one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, three counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, one count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, and three counts of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia. Pearson is additionally charged with a third count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree for the suboxone strips.

Both individuals are currently held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court.

The operation was supported by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Dunkirk Police Department, Chautauqua County Tac Meds, and Jamestown Fire Department.
