On June 30, 2024, at approximately 10:58 p.m., multiple 911 calls reported a house fire at 2017 South Ave in Syracuse. Responding Syracuse Police Officers and the Syracuse Fire Department discovered an active blaze. While several occupants managed to escape, it was reported that another person might be trapped inside.

Syracuse Fire personnel found Shaquoiya T. Allison, born May 13, 1990, inside the residence. She was immediately transported to Upstate Hospital for emergency medical treatment. Despite the hospital staff’s best efforts, Allison succumbed to her injuries.

Following the incident, the Syracuse Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID) Homicide Unit, along with the Syracuse Fire Department, launched a thorough investigation. Numerous individuals were interviewed, an extensive neighborhood canvass was conducted, and several search warrants were executed.

Through these efforts, Anthony Green, born November 3, 1965, was identified as the suspect. Green, who was already held at the Onondaga County Justice Center on unrelated domestic charges, was criminally charged on July 2, 2024, in connection to this incident. He faces charges of first-degree murder (Penal Law 125.27) and first-degree arson (Penal Law 150.20). Green remains in custody at the Onondaga County Justice Center pending his arraignment.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Syracuse Police Criminal Investigations Division at (315) 442-5222. As are all persons accused of a crime, Green is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
