(WNY News Now) – BUFFALO, NY – Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announced that Londarr S. Ward, a 40-year-old resident of Buffalo, has pleaded guilty to one count of Assault in the Second Degree (Class “D” felony) before Acting Erie County Court Judge Carrie Phillips. Ward entered his plea ahead of a scheduled jury trial in August.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at approximately 10:03 a.m. Ward assaulted his defense attorney during a meeting at the Erie County Correctional Facility on Walden Avenue in the Town of Alden. The attack left the victim with injuries to the face, left shoulder, and chest after Ward punched them multiple times with a closed fist.

At the time of the assault, Ward was in pre-trial custody for a series of convenience store robberies. In January 2024, a jury found Ward guilty of four counts of Robbery in the First Degree (Class “B” violent felonies) and one count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fifth Degree (Class “A” misdemeanor). The jury deliberated for approximately one hour before convicting Ward on all counts. In April 2024, he was sentenced to 46 years in prison followed by 5 years of post-release supervision as a second violent felony offender.

Ward now faces a maximum of 7 additional years in prison for the assault. Sentencing is scheduled for Monday, September 23, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. He remains in custody without bail.

Acting DA Keane commended the Erie County Sheriff’s Office and the detectives from the Amherst, Cheektowaga, and Buffalo Police Departments for their work in the robbery investigations. The assault case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Briana R. D. Kalman of the Narcotics/Intelligence Bureau and Joelle M. Marino of the Felony Trials Bureau. The robbery case was handled by Assistant District Attorneys Hilarie L. Henry of the Special Victims/Domestic Violence Bureau and Bethany A. Solek of the Vehicular Crimes Bureau.
