(WNY News Now) – A high-stakes pursuit on Prendergast Ave. ends in arrest for a Jamestown man facing multiple charges.
On the morning of July 21, 2024, Jamestown police officers from the First Platoon were conducting a warrant check on Prendergast Avenue when they observed 43-year-old resident Alberto Narvaez-Aponte, who was wanted for multiple burglary and larceny charges.
Upon approach, Narvaez-Aponte attempted to evade officers on a bicycle, initiating a brief but intense pursuit. The chase came to a halt when Narvaez-Aponte lost control and wrecked his bicycle, leading to his immediate apprehension by the officers.
Narvaez-Aponte now faces additional charges including resisting arrest and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, along with various Jamestown City Code violations that occurred during the chase. He is currently held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
