What do rabbits, bats, and bears have in common? They are all fascinating mammals!
(WNY News Now) – Jamestown, N.Y. – On Saturday, August 10, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., children aged 3 to 8 and their guardians can join the Audubon Community Nature Center’s Little Explorers for an engaging, hands-on exploration of the world of mammals. This event offers a unique opportunity to learn about mammal bones, furs, and other clues that distinguish mammals from reptiles and fish.
The program begins with a short indoor lesson about local mammals and the adaptations that help them thrive in their habitats. Following this, participants will embark on a guided outdoor exploration through the forests and wetlands of the Audubon preserve, searching for evidence of mammal activity.
A snack will be provided after the hike, and a craft activity may be offered if time allows. The event will proceed rain or shine, so participants are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather.
The participation fee is $12 for adults and $9 for children ages 3 to 8, with a discount for Nature Center members. Enrollment is capped at 15 children, with a total of 30 participants, ensuring a personalized experience. Paid reservations are required by Thursday, August 8, 2024. To reserve a spot, call (716) 569-2345 during business hours or visit AudubonCNC.org and navigate to Programs and Events.
