(WNY News Now) – Jamestown, N.Y. – The Jamestown Police Department is investigating a targeted shooting that led to the death of a 25-year-old from Buffalo.
In the early hours of August 16, 2024, a shooting incident occurred behind 309 N. Main St. in Jamestown, resulting in a life-threatening injury to Corey M. Johnson, 25, from Buffalo. The Jamestown Police Department responded to the scene at approximately 2:16 a.m., where Johnson was found with severe injuries.
Johnson was initially transported to UPMC Chautauqua before being moved to UPMC Hamot for further treatment. Despite medical efforts, Johnson succumbed to his injuries on August 18, 2024. Authorities believe the shooting was targeted and that the suspect had prior knowledge of the victim.
The Jamestown Police Department Investigative Section, in collaboration with the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office, is actively pursuing leads in the case. The investigation remains ongoing as officials work to identify and apprehend the perpetrator.
