(WNY News Now) – Cattaraugus County – The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office is offering a comprehensive hunter safety course, ensuring participants are well-prepared for the upcoming hunting season.
The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office has announced a Hunter Safety education class, focusing on gun safety, scheduled for Tuesday, September 24, 2024, and Wednesday, September 25, 2024, from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. The class will be held at the Randolph Rod & Gun Club, located at 4424 VanSlyke Road, Randolph, New York.
This no-cost course is designed to equip hunters with the essential knowledge and skills needed for safe and responsible hunting. Participants must attend both sessions to receive their certification. The class is primarily aimed at individuals aged 12 and above; however, 11-year-olds are welcome to attend if accompanied by a parent who must sit with the child throughout the course.
Class size is capped at 35 students, so early registration is recommended. Attendees are required to bring identification, a pen or pencil, and their own snacks and beverages. While dinner is not provided, options are available within a short drive from the venue.
Pre-registration is mandatory and can be completed online at www.register-ed.com. All participants must finish the required homework before attending the class, with course materials accessible online at the New York Department of Environmental Conservation’s website.
