(WNY News Now) – Olean, N.Y. – A vital grant is set to transform the Cattaraugus County-Olean Airport as the City of Olean receives $183,285 from the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program.
The City of Olean has been awarded a significant grant of $183,285 for the Cattaraugus County-Olean Airport through the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) FY24 Airport Improvement Program (AIP). This funding will initiate phase 1 of a crucial infrastructure project aimed at enhancing the safety and efficiency of the airport’s Runway 4/22 and Taxiway A, which have reached the end of their operational lifespan.
The grant focuses on the design and reconstruction of several key elements, including the runway’s lighting, runway end identifier lights system, precision approach path indicator system, and essential signage. Additionally, the project will update the signage and lighting for Taxiway A.
The Airport Improvement Program provides financial support to public-use airports across the United States, ensuring they meet the growing demands of the aviation sector. Airports like Cattaraugus County-Olean, which are included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS), rely on these funds to maintain their operational standards and serve their communities effectively.
