(WNY News Now) – Buffalo – A Buffalo woman has been sentenced for the fatal stabbing of her boyfriend in the city’s Masten Park neighborhood, bringing a tragic chapter to a close.

Teiyahna Bivens, 22, was sentenced to 4 to 12 years in prison by Erie County Court Judge Susan Eagan for the fatal stabbing of her boyfriend, 23-year-old Micqueal Rogers. The incident occurred on July 23, 2023, near Gerhardt and Northampton streets in Buffalo.
Bivens pleaded guilty to Manslaughter in the Second Degree, a Class C felony, on May 14, 2024. She was offered a reduced charge with the consent of Rogers’ family. As part of her plea, Bivens waived her right to argue for a reduced sentence based on claims of domestic violence under New York’s Penal Law § 60.12.
According to investigators, Bivens stabbed Rogers in the chest during an altercation. Rogers was transported to ECMC, where he died from his injuries.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Rebecca L. Schnirel of the Homicide Bureau and Nicholas Vozzo of the Special Victims/Domestic Violence Bureau. Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane commended the Buffalo Police Department for their thorough investigation.
