(WNY News Now) – Jamestown – On September 1, 2024, at approximately 9:51 a.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s 1st Platoon swiftly responded to a larceny in progress on the city’s Westside. The incident involved the theft of a mountain bike from a residential porch. Thanks to a Ring security camera at the residence, officers were provided with a detailed description of the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Matthew A. Haskins, a Jamestown resident.

Haskins was spotted shortly thereafter near the viaduct on North Main Street. Upon seeing the officers, he attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended. Haskins now faces charges of Grand Larceny in the 4th degree and resisting arrest. He is currently being held at the city jail pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. The stolen bike was successfully recovered and returned to its owner. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
