(WNY News Now) – With Election Day nearing, Assemblymember Charles Lavine (D-North Shore) is spearheading a series of public discussions about a proposed constitutional amendment aimed at expanding anti-discrimination protections in New York.
GLEN COVE, NEW YORK – As Election Day approaches, Assemblymember Charles Lavine is taking proactive steps to ensure the public is informed about a significant proposal on the New York State ballot: the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). Having been passed twice by the state legislature, the ERA seeks to broaden protections against discrimination, making it a key topic for voters.
“It’s my hope that these meetings will help get more people to vote,” Lavine said. “But as all of our rights continue to be threatened by the Supreme Court, it’s crucial that voters learn about this proposed change which greatly expands the number of people protected from discrimination,” he added.
