Syracuse Police, who were patrolling the area, witnessed the commotion around 1:55 a.m. Upon arriving at the scene, officers encountered a 19-year-old woman, later identified as Xianai Williams, brandishing a knife and threatening bystanders.

Officers immediately ordered Williams to drop the weapon, but she refused, fleeing the scene on foot. Police quickly apprehended her without further incident. Williams, a Syracuse resident, was arrested and charged with Assault in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree.

Nearby, officers discovered a 19-year-old female victim suffering from stab wounds to her hand and back. The victim was promptly transported to Upstate Hospital Emergency Room by American Medical Response (AMR). Fortunately, her injuries were declared non-life-threatening, and she is expected to recover fully.

According to police reports, neither Williams nor the victim has any known connection to Syracuse University. Authorities are investigating whether this attack is related to another incident that occurred around the same time, though initial findings suggest the two are unrelated. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
