(WNY News Now) – Syracuse – A shooting incident on West Newell Street in Syracuse has left a young man injured as police continue to investigate the circumstances.

On the evening of Monday, September 30th, Syracuse Police responded to reports of a shooting on the 100 block of West Calthrop Avenue at approximately 8:58 p.m. Upon arriving, officers discovered a man in his 20s suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. The victim was promptly transported to Upstate University Hospital, where his injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.

Initial findings suggest the shooting occurred in the 600 block of West Newell Street. Investigators are actively working to gather more information and determine the motive behind the incident.
