(WNY News Now) – A routine area check by Westfield Police led to the arrest of two men on burglary and drug possession charges at the local Little League field.

On the night of September 24th, 2024, at approximately 9:59 p.m., a Westfield Police Department patrolman discovered suspicious activity at 25 W Main St, the location of the Westfield Little League Field. Two bicycles were spotted near an outbuilding, and upon further investigation, voices were heard coming from inside the structure.

The patrolman attempted to gain access to the outbuilding, but the occupants refused to open the door. After a brief standoff, the officer managed to enter the building, where Joshua M. Winslow and Travis L. Lanneaux were found. Both men had allegedly damaged the building’s door to unlawfully enter and remain inside.

During the search, authorities found that Lanneaux was in possession of a white crystal-like substance, later identified as methamphetamine. Both suspects were charged with third-degree burglary (PL 140.20), third-degree criminal mischief (PL 145.05 sub 2), and Lanneaux with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (PL 220.03).

The Westfield Police Department issued warrants for the arrests of Winslow and Lanneaux. Following their apprehension, the two men were transported to the Chautauqua County Jail for processing and arraignment under the Centralized Arraignment Program.

The case is pending in Westfield Village Court, and both suspects were released on their own recognizance. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
