(WNY News Now) – A routine traffic stop in Dunkirk resulted in the arrest of a Webster man and the discovery of substantial narcotics.

Dunkirk, N.Y. – On Sunday, September 29, 2024, at approximately 2:10 PM, a Dunkirk Police officer conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of West 2nd Street and Woodrow Avenue. The vehicle, driven by 22-year-old Mikal S. McFadden from Webster, New York, was pulled over for multiple traffic violations.

During the stop, officers discovered a significant quantity of illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia. Authorities seized approximately 17.2 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 9.74 grams of suspected cocaine, 5.48 grams of suspected fentanyl, and 20 strips of Suboxone. In addition, numerous scales, glassine baggies, and envelopes used for packaging drugs, along with a substantial amount of cash, were found.
The Dunkirk Police Department noted that the items were packaged in a manner consistent with street-level drug sales. McFadden was arrested and charged with multiple felony counts, including Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th degrees, as well as misdemeanor charges for drug paraphernalia possession. He also faced several vehicle and traffic law infractions.
Following his processing at Dunkirk Police Headquarters, McFadden was released on his own recognizance. The Dunkirk Police K9 Unit assisted in the investigation. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
