(WNY News Now) – A Jamestown resident faces multiple charges following a domestic dispute that escalated into alleged violations of protection orders and property damage.
JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – On the evening of November 24, 2024, at approximately 7:29 p.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s 2nd Platoon responded to a reported domestic dispute at a North Side residence in Jamestown.
Upon investigation, authorities determined that Joseph D. Mitchell, a 29-year-old Jamestown resident, had allegedly violated two active orders of protection. Mitchell is accused of stealing a cell phone belonging to one of the protected individuals and fleeing the scene before officers arrived.
Police located Mitchell a short distance from the residence. Although the stolen phone was recovered, investigators reported that it had been damaged before being found.
Mitchell was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. He is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court on the following charges:
- Criminal Contempt in the First Degree
- Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree
- Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree
- Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree
As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
