(WNY News Now) – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Buffalo has issued an urgent Snow Squall Warning for parts of northeastern Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Genesee, and northwestern Monroe Counties.

At 7:40 AM EST, radar and webcams detected an intense snow squall line across the Niagara Frontier, moving southeast at approximately 15 mph.
Key Threats:
- Heavy snow bursts reducing visibility to near zero.
- Wind gusts exceeding 40 mph, causing blowing and drifting snow.
- Rapidly deteriorating road conditions, especially on I-90 between exits 47 and 56.
Locations under threat include Buffalo, Rochester, Cheektowaga, Greece, Irondequoit, and Lockport.

The NWS emphasizes caution for anyone traveling during the warning period:
- Delay travel if possible. Wait for the squall to pass.
