(WNY News Now) – A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service for several counties in Western New York, bringing snow and hazardous travel conditions starting this evening through Friday morning.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Southern Erie counties, effective from 6:00 PM EST on January 23 until 1:00 PM EST on January 24. The advisory warns of snow accumulation totals ranging from 3 to 6 inches, which could significantly affect travel conditions.

The expected snow will cover roads and reduce visibility, making travel hazardous. While conditions may begin to affect this evening’s commute, the greatest impact is anticipated during the Friday morning rush hour. Drivers are urged to slow down and exercise caution on the roads to avoid accidents and delays.

The NWS advises that snow-covered roads and limited visibility will make driving particularly dangerous. Motorists should plan extra time for their commutes and be prepared for slick surfaces.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed about the weather by checking the NWS website and local alerts. Snow reports can also be submitted through NWS Buffalo’s website and social media channels.
