(WNY News Now) – Experience the beauty of Northern England’s landscape from the comfort of Audubon Community Nature Center’s First Friday event on February 7, 11 a.m. to noon.

Jamestown, N.Y. – Come to Audubon Community Nature Center’s First Friday, February 7, 11 a.m. to noon., for “Coast to Coast: A Walk Across England with Eileen and Jim Goodling.”

Join the Goodlings as they share their 16-day walk across three national parks in the north of England.

On their most recent overseas adventure, the Goodlings traversed approximately 200 miles of English trails from the Irish Sea to the North Sea. Their feet carried them through the Lake District, across the Dales, and through the Moors. They will share photos of their journey and stories of the scenery, people, and nature they encountered on their adventure.

Eileen grew up in nearby Sheffield, Pa., and Jim, also a Pennsylvania native, is from the Carlisle area. In recent years Eileen retired from Jamestown Community College and Northern Pennsylvania Regional College and Jim from the Warren County United Fund and as a planning director in both Warren, Pa., and Corning, N.Y.

Jim is an avid walker and has walked the French Route of the Camino de Santiago, a 500-mile trek in Northern Spain, on two occasions. He has also hiked all of the North Country Trail within the Allegheny National Forest (90 miles). The Coast to Coast walk was Eileen’s first multi-day hike. Both are happiest when out in nature. They fondly remember their first date, hiking together at the Audubon Community Nature Center approximately 41 years ago.

You are welcome to bring a packed lunch and visit with the Goodlings after the program.

Program fee is $8 or $6 for Nature Center members and children ages 9 to 15. Reservations are appreciated by calling (716) 569-2345 or online at AudubonCNC.org/events. Walk-ins are welcome.
