(WNY News Now) – MACHIAS, NY – A routine traffic stop led to the arrest of a Lancaster woman on an active warrant Thursday afternoon, according to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 12:33 p.m. on January 23, 2025, deputies conducted a traffic stop in front of the Dollar General on State Route 16 at Lake Street in Machias. The driver, identified as 28-year-old Justina V. Wolanin of Arrow Trail, Lancaster, was found to have an active arrest warrant issued by the Town of Yorkshire Local Criminal Court.

Wolanin was taken into custody without incident and processed by authorities. She was later arraigned in the Town of Yorkshire Court and released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to appear in court at a later date for further proceedings.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
