(WNY News Now) – In a powerful tribute to Black History Month, M&T Bank’s CEO, René Jones, rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange, honoring the legacy and contributions of the Black community.

In recognition of Black History Month, René Jones, chairman and CEO of M&T Bank, rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange on Monday morning. The bell ringing celebrated the invaluable contributions and achievements of the Black community, while also honoring the legacy of Black history and culture.

Jones was joined onstage by fellow members of M&T’s Executive Leadership Team, including David Hollis, senior executive vice president and chief human resources officer; Glenn Jackson, executive vice president and chief diversity officer; Krista Phillips, senior executive vice president and chief customer officer; as well as M&T senior leaders who contribute to empowering diverse voices across the bank’s footprint.

M&T was also joined by partners Donald Felix, president and CEO of Carver Bank; Della Britton, president and CEO of the Jackie Robinson Foundation; and Gregg Gonsalves, chairman of the Jackie Robinson Foundation, who have all played a crucial role in advancing educational and economic opportunities within the Black community.
