(WNY News Now) – CLARENCE, N.Y. – A Clarence man has been sentenced to state prison for assaulting a victim during a domestic violence incident last year, Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announced.
Henry L. Jurek, III, 47, received a sentence of 1 ½ to 3 years in prison as a second felony offender. The sentencing took place before State Supreme Court Justice Amy C. Martoche on Monday.
On July 13, 2023, at approximately 7:45 p.m., Jurek assaulted the victim during an argument at a residence on Silver Birch Court in Clarence. Prosecutors say he slammed the victim’s head onto a concrete surface, causing injuries that required emergency treatment at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.
Jurek pleaded guilty on May 29, 2024, to one count of Attempted Assault in the Second Degree, a Class E felony. His plea satisfied all charges in the indictment.
A final order of protection has been issued for the victim and remains in effect until February 2035.
District Attorney Keane recognized BE SAFE Domestic Violence victim advocate Grace Reedy for her role in the case. Assistant Chief Gina M. Gramaglia of the Special Victims/Domestic Violence Bureau prosecuted the case.
