(WNY News Now) – WEST SENECA, N.Y. — A Depew man has admitted to causing a fatal head-on collision while under the influence of cocaine.

Zachary P. Poisson, 33, pleaded guilty before NYS Supreme Court Justice Debra Givens to all charges in his indictment, including second-degree manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane.
The crash occurred on July 24, 2023, around 5:30 a.m., when Poisson, driving eastbound on Clinton Street in West Seneca, crossed the center line and collided head-on with a westbound vehicle. The driver, 49-year-old David Sion of Eden, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Poisson remains held without bail and faces a maximum of 15 years in prison at his sentencing on April 30, 2025.
The West Seneca Police Department led the investigation, and the case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Mitchell Schoellkopf and Denise Herman.
