(WNY News Now) – Following a viral whistleblowing incident alleging widespread school neglect and obstructionism in the Buffalo school district, a local parent is speaking out on similar issues allegedly present in the Jamestown school district.
Jamestown, N.Y. – On April 26, 2025, a Buffalo SVU Detective, Richard Hy, blew the whistle when appearing on Unsubscribe Podcast, bringing forth allegations that the Buffalo school district is actively engaging in covering up incidents of abuse of students and obstructing efforts to address the issue. An especially notable incident occurred when there was an alleged abduction attempt of two students, one female and one male. Following the abduction attempt, the school allegedly did not inform the male student’s parents that an attempt had been made to abduct him, at which point the CCTV footage of the abduction attempt was allegedly deleted to cover up the incident.
In the wake of this report, a local parent reached out to WNY News Now regarding what they believe to be similar issues that are occuring in the Jamestown Public School district. The parent, who spoke to WNY News Now under the condition of anonymity for fear of retribution from the school administration, spoke of the abuse their child has allegedly been the victim of within the school.
While the parent requested that no specific incidents involving their child be publicized so that their identity is not compromised, the parent brought forth allegations that students are being victimized and assaulted by their peers while school administration refuses to document or address the violent incidents.
According to the parent, children are being kicked, thrown around, and subjected to anything else short of being attacked with weapons, though they stated that weapons have a large presence in the school, particularly knives.
School administration, they allege, refuses to documents such incidents and instead will often punish the victims of the incidents in question. The parent said that when they would attempt to talk to school administration to address the bullying and abuse their child was being forced to endure, the administrators would scream in their face, telling them that it was none of their business.
One of the core issues surrounding the school’s environment, the parent stated, is the preferential treatment they allegedly give to athletic students and students whose families financially contribute to the school district, refusing to reprimand them when they perpetrate abuse and bullying of their peers.
WNY News Now has reached out to JPS Superintendent Whitaker’s office for comment.
