(WNY News Now) – On June 13, 2025, at approximately 9:21 p.m., Jamestown police responded to a domestic disturbance at a southside residence, leading to the arrest of Richard A. Poorman, 40, of Jamestown.

Officers arriving at the scene found Poorman in the driveway. When instructed to show his hands, he initially refused and dropped a glassine envelope suspected to contain narcotics. During the arrest attempt, Poorman resisted and tried to kick an officer, resulting in a brief struggle before being taken into custody.

Investigation revealed Poorman was subject to an active stay-away order of protection. He allegedly struck the victim multiple times and unlawfully prevented her from leaving the residence.

Poorman was charged with resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration in the second degree, unlawful imprisonment in the second degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, aggravated criminal contempt, and assault in the third degree. He was transported to the city jail pending arraignment.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
