(WNY News Now) – Town of Ellicott police charged Sierra D. Rishel, 26, with resisting arrest after a traffic stop involving an electric scooter on July 6, 2025.

On July 6, 2025, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Town of Ellicott police officers initiated a traffic stop involving Sierra D. Rishel, 26, a local resident, who was operating an electric scooter. Authorities allege that Rishel refused to stop as required under New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law (VTL) provisions.

Following the refusal, Rishel led officers on a brief foot pursuit before resisting arrest during the officers’ attempt to take her into custody. She was subsequently arrested and issued an appearance ticket.

Rishel is scheduled to appear in Town of Ellicott Court at a later date to respond to the resisting arrest charge. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
