An early morning patrol led to the arrest of an 18-year-old Dunkirk resident accused of unlawfully entering vehicles and stealing property.

(WNY News Now) – DUNKIRK, N.Y. – On July 8, 2025, at approximately 3:18 a.m., Dunkirk Police officers patrolling the 100 block of Nevens Street observed several vehicles with their interior lights on and doors open, prompting an immediate investigation.

Officers spotted a white male leaving the area and quickly located and identified him as 18-year-old Jamie Waclawski Jr. During the investigation, Waclawski was allegedly found in possession of vape devices, loose change, and a prescription bottle belonging to another individual.

Authorities contacted the prescription owner, who confirmed that her vehicle had been unlawfully entered and that her medication had been taken without permission.

Waclawski was arrested and charged with Petit Larceny and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree. He was processed and released with an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to appear before Honorable Judge Kuzdale in Dunkirk City Court at a later date for arraignment. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
