(WNY News Now) – A registered Level 2 sex offender was arrested in Westfield after allegedly failing to notify authorities of his residence at a local motel.
WESTFIELD, NY – A Westfield man identified as Clarence J. Williams III, 45, was arrested and charged with failing to comply with New York State sex offender registration requirements, the Westfield Police Department announced.
On July 15, 2025, police received a tip indicating that Williams, a registered Level 2 sex offender, had been residing at the Thruway Motel on North Portage Street without properly updating his address with law enforcement or the New York State Sex Offender Registry.
An investigation revealed that Williams had been living at the motel since June 2, 2025, under arrangements made through the Department of Social Services. However, he failed to report his new residence within the mandatory 10-day period, as required by Corrections Law § 168-t.
On July 16, Williams was taken into custody without incident and charged with one count of Failure to Register or Verify as a Sex Offender, a Class E felony. He was transported to Chautauqua County Jail and is currently being held pending arraignment in the Town of Westfield Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
