(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – A Jamestown man was taken into custody early Friday morning after police discovered he was wanted on an active arrest warrant and found him in possession of narcotics.

According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers from the 3rd Platoon conducted a street check on the city’s northside at approximately 4:14 a.m. on August 30, 2025. During the stop, officers identified the subject as 26-year-old Damion L. Carlson, who had an active arrest warrant issued by the City of Jamestown.

Carlson was taken into custody without incident. A subsequent search of his property revealed that he was allegedly in possession of quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl.

He was transported to the Jamestown City Jail and is currently being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. Carlson faces charges for his active arrest warrant and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
