(WNY News Now) – BUFFALO, N.Y. – A Jamestown man has been sentenced to over eight years in federal prison for distributing drugs that led to a near-fatal overdose, U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced Wednesday.
Bradley D. Knapp, 46, was sentenced to 97 months behind bars by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara after being convicted of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and to distribute, heroin, fentanyl, and methamphetamine.
Prosecutors said Knapp used Facebook to arrange drug sales and operated out of a residence on West 9th Street in Jamestown, where he manufactured, packaged, and distributed narcotics. According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua A. Violanti, Knapp sold approximately one gram of a heroin/fentanyl mixture to an individual identified as M.H. on August 12, 2020. The following day, M.H. overdosed after using the drugs and stopped breathing. Emergency responders administered multiple doses of Narcan, successfully reviving the individual.
The case was investigated by the Jamestown Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office. Officials said the investigation was part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) initiative, a multi-agency program targeting high-level drug trafficking operations across the United States.
