(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A Jamestown man is facing DWI charges following a motor vehicle accident on Harrison Street Friday night.

According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers from the Second Platoon responded to a business on Harrison Street around 9:45 p.m. on October 17, 2025, after receiving reports of a motor vehicle accident.

An investigation determined that 51-year-old John L. Thompson Jr., a Jamestown resident, was operating one of the vehicles involved in the crash while under the influence of alcohol.

Police say Thompson was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail for processing. He was charged with Driving While Intoxicated (Per Se) and Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated for allegedly having a blood alcohol content of 0.18% or higher.

Thompson was later released with Uniform Traffic Tickets and is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date for arraignment. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
