(WNY News Now) – Police in Jamestown responded to a reported burglary in progress Sunday afternoon, resulting in two individuals being taken into custody nearby.
According to authorities, officers from the first platoon were dispatched to 443 Buffalo Street at approximately 1:35 p.m. on April 5, 2026, following a report of a burglary in progress.
Upon arrival, officers were informed by the victim that two suspects had fled the scene. Police conducted a search of the surrounding area and located both individuals a short distance away. They were taken into custody without incident.
One of the individuals was identified as Steven L. Osborne, a 19-year-old resident of Jamestown. He was transported to the Jamestown City Jail and charged with Criminal Trespass in the Third Degree. Osborne was later released with an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date.
The second individual, a 17-year-old from Hamburg, New York, was also taken into custody. The juvenile was transported to the police station and subsequently released to another party. Authorities indicated that charges will be filed at a later time. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
