(WNY News Now) – A Forestville woman was taken into custody Saturday afternoon after an altercation with law enforcement officers during a welfare check in the Town of Villenova.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred on April 11, 2026, at approximately 4:56 p.m. on Prospect Road in the Town of Villenova.

Deputies, along with the New York State Police, were conducting a welfare check at a residence when the situation escalated. Authorities report that Kate S. Pinkowski, 41, of Forestville, became disorderly and allegedly engaged in a physical confrontation with officers at the scene.

As a result of the incident, Pinkowski was taken into custody and charged with attempted assault in the second degree.

She was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail for processing and arraignment through the Centralized Arraignment Program in the Town of Villenova.

Officials also noted that additional charges from the New York State Police are pending. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
