(WNY News Now) – SPRINGVILLE, N.Y. — A 66-year-old Springville man has pleaded guilty to a felony charge involving attempted sexual conduct with a child, according to the Erie County District Attorney’s Office.
Joseph F. Decker entered a guilty plea Monday morning before State Supreme Court Justice Betty Calvo-Torres to one count of attempted course of sexual conduct against a child, a Class C violent felony.

Prosecutors said that between June 20, 2024, and September 19, 2025, Decker attempted to engage in at least two acts of sexual conduct with a child under the age of 13 at a location in the Village of Springville. Authorities noted that the defendant was known to the victim.
Decker faces a maximum sentence of up to 15 years in prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced on June 17, 2026, at 10 a.m. and remains held without bail. Upon release, he will be required to register as a sex offender. Temporary orders of protection issued on behalf of the victim and related parties remain in effect.
Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane credited Detective Richard Lundberg and the Erie County Sheriff’s Office Investigative Services Unit for their work on the case, along with victim advocate Nicole Haffa.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Julie B. Fiske of the Special Victims Bureau and Meredith M. Mohun of the Major Crimes Bureau.
