(WNY News Now) – A 40-year-old Little Valley man was arrested following a traffic stop on Lebanon Road in the Town of Coldspring on April 11, 2026, after deputies reported multiple vehicle and traffic violations and subsequent intoxication findings.
The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office reports that Benjamin I. Hilliard, 40, of Little Valley, was taken into custody at approximately 7:39 p.m. on April 11, 2026, after a traffic stop on Lebanon Road in the Town of Coldspring.
According to deputies, the stop was initiated after law enforcement observed multiple vehicle and traffic infractions, including a loud exhaust and an uninspected motor vehicle. During the encounter, deputies conducted a traffic investigation and administered standardized field sobriety tests.
Authorities determined Hilliard was allegedly operating the vehicle while intoxicated. A chemical breath test reportedly indicated a blood alcohol concentration at or above 0.08 percent.
Hilliard was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office for processing.
He was charged with the following offenses:
- Driving While Intoxicated (DWI)
- Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Blood Alcohol Content of 0.08% or More
- Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree
- Uninspected Motor Vehicle
- Loud Exhaust Violation
Following processing, Hilliard was issued multiple Uniform Traffic Tickets and released. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Coldspring Court at a later date to respond to the charges.
The case remains pending court proceedings, and all charges are allegations unless proven in a court of law.
