(WNY News Now) – LITTLE VALLEY, NY — An incarcerated individual at the Cattaraugus County Jail has been charged after authorities say a weapon was discovered inside his cell.
According to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office, the incident stems from an investigation initiated on April 13, 2026, at approximately 12:45 p.m. by the Criminal Investigation Bureau. Officials reported that 37-year-old Andre W. Shaw, of Bronx, New York, was allegedly found in possession of a wooden shank while housed at the jail facility on Court Street in Little Valley.
Following the investigation, Shaw was charged with Promoting Prison Contraband in the First Degree, a felony offense under New York State law.
Authorities said Shaw was arraigned in the Town of Little Valley Court and subsequently remanded back to the Cattaraugus County Jail. He is currently being held on a parole violation, with nominal bail set.
Shaw is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to respond to the charge. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
