(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A Jamestown man was taken into custody Thursday evening after police and probation officers located him at a north side residence and allegedly found suspected methamphetamine during a search following his arrest.
According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers assisted probation officers on May 21, 2026, at approximately 7:47 p.m. while checking on probationer John A. Waite, 34, of Jamestown.
Authorities said Waite was wanted on active warrants issued by the City of Jamestown for failure to appear in court. Officers made contact with Waite at a north side address and took him into custody without incident.
During a search conducted after the arrest, officers allegedly discovered a quantity of suspected methamphetamine in Waite’s pants pocket.
Waite was transported to the Jamestown City Jail and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree in addition to the outstanding warrants.
He was held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
