(WNY News Now) – A 30-year-old Bemus Point man was arrested after Town of Ellicott Police said he allegedly threatened an officer, fled on foot, and attempted to steal a vehicle during an incident early Tuesday.

ELLICOTT, N.Y. — Town of Ellicott Police have charged Jesse B. Pardue, 30, of Bemus Point, with Attempted Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree and Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree following an incident that began shortly after midnight on July 28, 2026.

According to police, officers responded at approximately 12:29 a.m. to a report of a despondent person. During the incident, Pardue allegedly made threats to kill a police officer and harm himself.

Police said Pardue fled the scene on foot and refused to comply with officers’ commands. While attempting to evade law enforcement, he allegedly tried to steal a vehicle.

Authorities later obtained an arrest warrant, and Pardue was taken into custody later that evening.

Pardue was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail for centralized arraignment. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Ellicott Court at a later date to answer the charges.

The allegations are contained in a police press release. All charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
