(WNY News Now) – A 36-year-old Hanover man was charged with aggravated DWI after Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies stopped his vehicle in the Town of Hanover.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, deputies conducted a traffic stop on Route 20 in Hanover around 9:32 p.m. Sept. 5 after observing a vehicle following another vehicle too closely.

The operator was identified as Bobby E. Ackerman Jr., 36, of Hanover. During the investigation, deputies determined that Ackerman was allegedly driving while intoxicated.

Ackerman was taken into custody and transported to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office. He was later released with appearance tickets.

Ackerman is charged with following too closely, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, DWI and aggravated DWI, according to the sheriff’s office.

The charges are allegations, and Ackerman is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
