(WNY News Now) – A 65-year-old Kentucky man was issued an appearance ticket after deputies investigated a suspicious person complaint on Shortman Road in the Town of Ripley.

Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies responded to an address on Shortman Road at about 6:35 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, following a report of a suspicious person.

According to the sheriff’s department, an investigation determined that Brian D. Blackburn, 65, of Versailles, Kentucky, entered and remained unlawfully inside a garage at a residence.

Blackburn was taken into custody following the investigation. He was later released from the scene with an appearance ticket.

Blackburn was charged with second-degree criminal trespass. He is scheduled to appear in Town of Ripley Court at a later date for arraignment.

The charge is an allegation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
