(WNY News Now) – Jamestown police say a 41-year-old man was arrested after a reported shoplifting incident downtown led to additional charges involving alleged public exposure.

Jamestown police arrested Joseph A. Snyder, 41, following a reported shoplifting incident at a downtown business on Thursday, Sept. 10.

According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers from the First Platoon responded to a business at 41 S. Main St. at about 11:10 a.m. for a reported theft.

Police said an investigation determined Snyder had allegedly stolen merchandise from the business. Officers located Snyder on the property and arrested him before he could leave.

During the investigation, officers also learned that Snyder allegedly exposed himself to an adult and a juvenile while outside the downtown business, according to police.

Snyder was taken to the Jamestown City Jail and charged with Petit Larceny, two counts of Public Lewdness and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

He was arraigned in Jamestown City Court and released. The charges are allegations, and Snyder is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
