ALBANY – Courses in fishing, shooting, kayaking and wilderness survival are among the offerings in the 26th annual Becoming an Outdoors-Woman workshop hosted by New York’s Department of Environmental Conservation.

The three-day workshop will be held from Sept. 13-15 at the Silver Bay YMCA retreat center on Lake George in the Adirondacks. It costs $305 to $450 per person depending on lodging and courses selected. Registration is limited to 125 women and a lottery will be held to choose participants because the workshops are popular.

Becoming an Outdoors-Woman provides a supportive, non-competitive learning environment for women with little or no experience with outdoor activities. Programs are held in all 50 states and several Canadian provinces.

Registration opens Monday and closes July 1. Information is posted on DEC’s website.
