PORTLAND – A Forestville roofer is facing charges after allegedly scamming a homeowner in the Town of Portland last year.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office says that James Haskins, 40, was hired to complete a roofing job in the Town of Portland in October 2019 but failed to complete any of the work.

Furthermore deputies say Haskins accepted a check for $3,500 and did not attempt reimbursement.

Haskins was issued an appearance ticket for third-degree grand larceny on Thursday morning.

He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Portland court at a later date and time.
