LAKEWOOD – A flash flood warning has been issued for parts of Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties on Saturday afternoon.

The National Weather Service in Buffalo says thunderstorms producing heavy rain will likely cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage and low lying areas.

Some locations that could experience flooding include Westfield, Lakewood, Mayville, Clymer, Long Point State Park, Chautauqua Institution, Lake Erie State Park, Findley Lake, Chautauqua, Portland Fredonia, Springville, Gowanda, Ashford Hollow, East Concord, Concord, Collins, Holland, Stockton and Dayton.


Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area.

This includes I-90 between exits 61 and 60 and I-86 between exits 4 and 10.

The warning is in effect until 6:45 p.m.
