LAKEWOOD — A flower shop in Lakewood is seeing an increase in “random acts of kindness” orders ahead of Valentine’s Day.

Pea Pod & Juniper owner Kimberly Carlson says arrangements from family, neighbors or other unexpected sources are starting to come in.

“We have some folks who have been shut in and haven’t left their homes,” said Carlson. “Some people are going to have extra special surprises this year, maybe from people that they did not expect to receive flowers from.”

Kimberly says she is aiming to show her personal touch this Valentine’s Day and all season long.

“That’s exactly how I want my store operated. I am involved with every single order,” Carlson said. “I want to talk with the person who is ordering the flowers. I want to know a little about who they’re going to make sure that it does have that special touch to it.”

She says this year traditional vase rose arrangements remain popular. The owner asks who the arrangements are for, something that helps get the right arrangement prepared.

Pea Pod & Juniper is also delivering fresh flowers to restaurants upon request in order to encourage people to have a night out on the town. The florist is also partnered with a nearby spirits retailer, Bag & String Wine Merchants, to pair the perfect bottle with flowers or chocolates.
