JAMESTOWN – DMV locations in Chautauqua County will soon resume walk-in services. 

County Clerk Larry Barmore says starting Monday, April 12 the Department of Motor Vehicle locations in Jamestown, Dunkirk and Mayville will resume walk-in services.

Previously, walk-in availability was on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Only Chautauqua County residents and the person making transaction is permitted inside the buildings. Visitors also must wait outside until instructed to enter and wear a face covering while inside.

Residents will need an appointment however, to sign up for Learner Permit, Escort/Pilot Car and CDL testing. Appointments can be made online at chqgov.com/county-clerk/department-of-motor-vehicles.

Additionally, vehicle registration renewals and many other services can still be done via U.S. Mail or utilizing the various drop boxes.

Car dealers may bring a max of three transactions at one time. Dealers not needing plates are asked to use the drop boxes.
