JAMESTOWN – Leaders in Jamestown are looking for residents to help implement the recently passed police reform measures.

The City of Jamestown Mayor’s Office says applications for the Police Reform Strategic Implementation Committee is now open.

This committee, made up of community members, public safety leaders and officers in the Jamestown Police Department, will help implement the reforms and initiatives outlined in city’s recently passed reform plan.

One of the goals listed in the police reform plan is to increase the recruitment of qualified local, minority and women candidates for the Jamestown Police Department.

The group is now looking for three residents to join their ranks to help further reform efforts.

Residents can apply online at jamestownny.gov/boards under the “Police Reform Strategic Implementation Committee” tab.

Applications will be accepted until May 21.

It would be helpful to know more details about being on this committee if chosen, i.e. how often they would meet? Would it be in person or zoom because of covid?? I would consider myself a good candidate but would like more info before applying.
