Inmate Accused Of Attempted Escape While Receiving Medical Treatment

JAMESTOWN – An inmate at the Chautauqua County Jail is accused of attempting to escape while receiving treatment at a local hospital last week.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office says 53-year-old Jamestown resident Velmon Boyd Sr. was transported to UPMC Chautauqua Hospital in Jamestown for medical treatment last Wednesday.

A corrections officer from the jail went with him to the hospital.

While at the medical center, it is alleged Boyd became agitated and attempted to get away from the correction officer by running out of room and into the hallway.

He was quickly apprehended in the hallway by corrections officer and brought back to county lockup.

Boyd is charged with second-degree attempted escape.
