Kidnapping Suspect Accused Of Pointing Gun At Victim’s Head In Separate Case

RIPLEY – A Ripley man charged with kidnapping is now facing an additional charge in a separate case.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office says that an investigation Tuesday revealed that Isiah Fuentes, 22, allegedly displayed what appeared to be a handgun, put the gun to a victim’s head and threatened to kill them.

Fuentes was located Thursday on an arrest warrant for second-degree menacing. He was transported to Chautauqua County Jail for centralized arraignment, and was later released.

The Ripley man is scheduled to stand trial in Chautauqua County Court next month in connection with a July 2020 kidnapping.

A court clerk previously told WNY News Now that the case for 22-year-old Isiah Fuentes, of Ripley, is currently on the August 30 felony trial calendar. Fuentes is charged with two counts of first-degree kidnapping, first-degree attempted assault and second-degree assault.

Deputies from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office report that they responded to a check of the well-being of a subject who was reported to have been injured during an altercation on July 31 in Ripley. According to deputies, Fuentes allegedly held the victim against their will in their home for several days.

During that time, authorities accuse Fuentes of assaulting the victim.

Fuentes was arrested as a result of the alleged incident.  He was originally indicted in September 2020 on two counts of felony first-degree kidnapping, felony first-degree assault, two counts of felony second-degree assault, felony second-degree strangulation, two counts of felony first-degree coercion, and one count of second-degree  menacing.

Some of those charges, however, were dismissed prior to trial.

Chautauqua County District Attorney Jason Schmidt will be prosecuting the case, while Assistant Public Defender James Williams is listed as Fuentes’ lawyer.
